In brief

Iranian state TV reported explosions across four southern counties, while official agencies offered differing explanations. Some say the blasts came from a U.S. military strike targeting Qeshm Island, others link them to Iranian forces managing maritime traffic. President Trump described U.S. actions as 'minor', but damage details remain unclear.

Several explosions were heard Saturday night in four southern Iranian counties—Qeshm, Sirik, Jask and Bandar Abbas—state‑run IRIB TV reported. It said it was not yet clear whether the blasts resulted from an enemy attack or from the Iranian armed forces firing at “violating” vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.

Earlier on the day, IRNA reported two explosions on Qeshm Island, citing a correspondent who said the blasts had occurred inside the island. The semi‑official Tasnim news agency quoted an informed source claiming the sounds were linked to the Iranian armed forces’ management of maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, noting that no projectile had struck the island.

U.S. Army officials reportedly carried out “minor” attacks targeting Qeshm Island early Saturday, with Tasnim saying two missiles hit the island but offering no details on damage. President Donald Trump said Friday that U.S. forces had launched new strikes against Iran’s air defense systems, describing the action as “minor.”
