In brief

Russian forces launched a ballistic missile attack on Kyiv early Saturday, hitting residential buildings and injuring two people according to Mayor Vitali Klitschko. The mayor called the attacks part of a barrage on infrastructure, while President Zelenskiy warned of more strikes on energy and transport assets. The attack came two days before U.S.-led talks in Abu Dhabi aimed at resolving the war.

Russian forces fired ballistic missiles at Kyiv early on Saturday, damaging residential buildings and injuring two people, mayor Vitali Klitschko said on Telegram, according to Reuters.

Debris from the missiles struck a five‑storey apartment building in a western district, and the façade of another residential building was damaged, Reuters notes. A building housing a kindergarten also suffered damage, while two people were reported wounded by the city’s military administration, also writing on Telegram.

Mayor Vitali Klitschko added a warning on his Telegram account:

Explosions in the Kyiv suburbs. The enemy is hitting infrastructure with ballistic missiles,

In a nightly video address, President Volodymyr Zelenskiy warned that Russia was preparing further attacks on Ukraine’s energy targets, bridges and other infrastructure, according to the same Reuters report.

The strike came just three days before U.S.‑led talks in Abu Dhabi, where Ukrainian and Russian negotiators are slated to open a new round of talks aimed at resolving the 4‑½‑year‑old conflict.

Kyiv’s military administration and mayor have urged residents to remain alert and prepared for further strikes, reminding citizens to check damage reports and follow official guidance.
