Senior North Korean Workers’ Party official Kim Song‑nam met his Chinese counterpart Liu Haixing in Beijing on Friday, marking the third high‑level meeting of his visit this week, Yonhap reported.
The talks took place at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse, where Kim briefed Liu on “successes” in party‑building work and the country’s effort to meet the targets of the five‑year plan adopted at the party’s ninth congress in February, KCNA said.
Both sides reaffirmed support for each other’s policies and pledged deeper cooperation, the report added. The Korean Central News Agency also said Liu called the visit significant for strengthening relations.
Following the meeting, China hosted a reception for the North Korean delegation, a gesture noted by Yonhap.
This meeting came after Kim’s earlier domestic‑ and foreign‑policy briefings with Chinese figures West: Cuban deputy foreign minister Wang Yi on Thursday and Cai Qi, a member of the Communist Party of China’s Standing Committee of the Political Bureau, on Friday, according to KCNA.
All the talks are framed by the larger context of President Xi Jinping’s June summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong‑un in Pyongyang, which the report said has deepened ties and broadened cooperation between the two countries, especially as North Korea has edged toward closer ties with Russia over the war in Ukraine.
