Hundreds of activists linked to The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) have been taken into custody in Delhi after a protest that drew massive police attention. The demonstration began when a Chief Justice compared some unemployed young people to cockroaches, sparking a movement that the CJP said would proceed regardless of government permission.
Delhi police denied the organisers a permit and deployed tens of thousands of security personnel, blocking roads with barricades. Despite the blockade, the CJP held a rally, during which many participants were detained. Protesters reacted by slamming bus windows and expressing anger at the authorities.
CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke was among those captured, his detention captured in a video the group posted on social media. The incident underscores ongoing disputes over assembly rights and freedom of expression in India.
